This One's For You Nanny!

The other day our four year old was talking about Jesus dying on the cross for us so we could go to heaven. He asked us if we thought God was waiting on us to come to heaven. We told him He sure was.  He then asked us how do you get to heaven. My husband's reply to him was "Well, you can fly to heaven with angel wings." Our son sat there a minute and thoughtfully said "Well maybe I can get to heaven with rocket packs!" We both hugged him and said he sure could.

This is to you Nanny. We hope you had rocket packs instead of wings for your trip to heaven!

Everyone has different memories of their loved ones and I'd like to share mine of my grandmother, who I called Nanny. She was our "Nanny up the hill" because well, she lived up the hill from us. I remember when my sister and I would run up the hill from our house to visit her and my grandaddy we would always come in and sit for just long enough to ask "Nanny can we have a pickle?" and she would reply "sure girls help yourselves." She is the only person I knew who not only always had the best dill pickles but had a pickle elevator. A pickle elevator for those of you who don't know is a tupperware like container that you poured your pickles in with all of their juice. When you wanted a pickle you would take off the lid and pull up on the handle and up came the pickles free of their juice on a little elevator. My Nanny's pickle elevator was green like a pickle. This is just only one of the many memories I have of my Nanny. Love you Nanny may you rest in peace!

That was great Kelsey! I remember the pickle elevator too and always loved it at Granny's. We will surely miss her. Mary-Ellen commented "Little Granny sure will be happy to see Granddaddy." Amen.

I love how the kids just accept things so simple. I wish I saw things through their eyes. Well if you cried from reading my post I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention, but it just means you loved Nanny as much as I did : )
