Remember it's been a full year for me since I really cooked everyday. But since I have started back, it's only fair to warn potential friends and family what they may be eating when they come to see us. It's fair to say that I am a bit clumsy. One of our first meals in the new house was boiled shrimp with french fries and cheese biscuits. Well I only had plastic forks since everything hadn't been moved in yet and I had just mixed the biscuit mix in a bowl. I was trying to boil my shrimp with some Old Bay seasoning and yes I had just bought a new can of the stuff so I had to open it. Well I don't know if you've ever tried to open the lid on that thing but it's kind of hard to do. So I got the end of the plastic fork to pry open the lid. When I did just that, Old Bay seasoning went everywhere! Did I happen to mention that I opened it right over the bowl of biscuit mix? Yeah, that's right, Old Bay dumped into the cheddar biscuits.
I wish I could have seen my face. Unbelievable! I tried to scoop it out but a lot was left and stirred right into the mix. Let's just say the biscuits didn't rise and Jackson dipped them in ketchup to eat them. They actually did taste pretty good. I just couldn't believe it actually happened.
The other incident happened the other night when I was fixing supper for my in-laws. I was cooking some whole kernel corn when I reached up in the cabinet to grab the salt and pepper to add a little flavor. I added the pepper and I added what I thought was salt. When I set what I thought was the salt shaker down I happened to look over on the other side of the stove, and their was the salt. Oh no! What did I put in the corn? Popcorn salt! Ha, ha. Again I wish I could have seen my face! Nobody said anything about the corn and I thought it tasted pretty good.
I don't mean to be so clumsy. I really do try to cook a meal with no mishaps. I have gotten a lot better since the first time I cooked a homemade peach cobbler for Steven and added salt in the place of sugar! He was a sport and tried to eat it but I couldn't stand it and threw it away!

I can identify with you! I cannot tell you all the things that happens to me in the kitchen. Try "Once a Month" Cooking." A lot of work, but great in the end!
