Let the Races Begin!

Brand new house with no furniture and hard wood floors, check. . .

Pair of matching green bean bags, check. . .

2 boys ready to race, check. . .

1 momma to explain the rules and get hurt in the process, priceless!

We had us a little race the other day. The boys were wanting to go outside to play but it was thundering and sprinkling so they were pinned up in the house. I haven't moved all of their toys yet and they had already ran up and down the stairs at least 50 times so they were looking for something else to do. When my light bulb clicked.

We have no furniture, two bean bags and nothing but bare floors why not have a bean bag race? So I got the bright idea to show them how to do it. Yes, Steven was sitting there watching the whole show. I started at the stairs and took off running. I jumped on the bean bag to see how far I could slide when I guess I forgot to pick my feet up, or I thought I was a lot shorter than I really was, or I thought the bean bag was a lot bigger than it was. I slid and boy did I slide, while dragging my bare feet behind me, stuck to the floor. The skin on the tops of my feet had rolled off they were stuck to the floor so bad. This is an indescribable burning foot pain if you don't get the mental picture.

I got off the floor limping it was so bad. It was pretty funny though I was laughing pretty hard and Steven was definitely laughing. The kind of laugh you throw your head back and cover your face laugh. I seriously hurt myself but it was totally worth it. The boys got the idea of the game and raced full speed for at least 30 minutes. Back and forth, back and forth. It was pretty funny to watch. We finally talked Steven into trying it but of course he was successful with two bean bags instead of one. Why didn't I think of that?
