You ever have one of those days when you just need a break from life? Well this weekend I took two of those days. I have been going, going, going it seems like since the first of the year with no break and no results, lol. So, I finally had an empty weekend and I did absolutely nothing. I was in a grumpy mood and I took advantage of it, lol. Jackson was sick and Everett doesn't mind hanging out, so that's what we did.
But have you ever done absolutely nothing and then felt terrible about it because you're thinking of all the things you should have done but didn't and that adds to your grumpiness and then you just get in a rut and then maybe a zombie hole where all you want to do is sleep. (And type run on sentences, lol.)
I don't think it was as bad as I am making it sound. But, I definitely didn't do any work this weekend and I did take a lot of naps. So with all of my grumpiness I thought it was only fair to start Monday out with a poem.
I first heard this poem when I was dating Coach. I remember it like it was yesterday he had it stuck to his fridge with a frog magnet his mom gave him. He told me it was from his dad's office and he recited it to me with so much enthusiasm. He told me the poem word for word like it was written especially for him. Well, that piece of paper followed us through the next years of our lives together making its way on every fridge we ever thought we owned. I haven't unpacked it yet for our new house but I think this time it will get a face lift and maybe a frame of its own.
Don't Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

So with that poem on my mind (and the rocky theme song) I woke upat 3am to a new morning ready to go again. I had my break and to be honest I didn't really enjoy it. I felt no accomplishment but that of being selfish. I don't really want that accomplishment. So welcoming in Monday I decided that I won't quit. (I can't guarantee I won't be grumpy, hehehe.) Back to the grindstone for me. Yay for you because I've been working on some projects . . .
