Kinzie Stone

Disclaimer: What you are about to read or see may be disturbing or even provide too much information about my private life. Read at your own risk.

Back in August right before school started I was blessed to have my very first kidney stone. Yes sir, it was about 4 mm so the doctors said. I had to go to the ER because I had no clue about what to do, I had never had one before.

Lucky me, my sister happens to work at the same hospital I went to so she was able to sit with me until Coach could get there, lol. They were both awesome, cause Lord knows I was in a lot of pain and I was talking way too much for any normal person to withstand.

Well, once I passed the kidney stone and caught it in the strainer thingy the doctor gives you I knew I had to take a picture of it!

Are you ready?

This is my kidney stone in the lid of a small container I was supposed to keep it in until I could take it to my doctor.

Yes, I named the kidney stone "El Diablo."  For those of you who don't know what that means it means "the Devil." Yes, this kidney stone was the D-E-V-I-L! Look at the horns on this puppy. Are you kidding me!

This pain was totally different than that of childbirth to me. It was not as bad, painful, but not having a baby painful. Painful enough though that I don't want to have another one.

Well you know we told the boys. They couldn't really understand what we were talking about. Everett kept calling it a "candy stone" and Jackson would call it a "kinzie stone." Which I thought was totally hilarious. Cause apparently every time I would go to the bathroom they thought I was having another one, lol.

The doctor sent this bad boy off to be tested and turns out this was a calcium oxalate mono hydrate kidney stone. Well whatever it was I cut back tremendously on the sodas. I upped my intake of water and Country Time Lemonade  as suggested by a fellow kidney stone maker. So far so good.

Well being weirdly crafty I decided to make something for the nice lady who took my CT scan at the hospital and the doctor who read my results. They work with my sister and she said they were really concerned about me. So this is what I came up with.

Yes, it says "Thanks for finding my kidney stone! P.S. It was a calcium oxalate monohydrate stone."

Do you know how hard it is to find rock candy? And then find some rocky candy that isn't broken into a bazillion pieces?  I chose the chevron pattern cause of the points, it reminds me of my kidney stone as well as the rock candy. Considering these nice people at the hospital have seen pretty much everything I thought for sure they would appreciate my humor. I am a nerd like that.
